Ma's Apple Crisp

This is one of my fall favorites. My mom made it when we were little and it still brings back good memories of crisp fall in New England.  Enjoy…
Ma’s Apple Crisp
6-8 Apples, peeled and sliced
2 tbls. Sugar
1 (hearty) tbls of Cinnamon
Mix Cinnamon and sugar in a bowl with the apple slices and place in a pie dish (make sure to spray the dish first)
Next:
Melt 1 Stick of butter in a saucepan then take the pan of the heat and mix in 1 Cup of sugar until mostly dissolved.  Then, stir in 1 Cup of flour slowly.  You’ll end up with a thick mixture.
Now,
Pour the mixture on top of the apples in the pie dish and pop in a pre-heated oven set to 350 degrees.  Bake for 45 mins to an Hour and enjoy!

Surprises Everywhere

So, I got my Stella & Dot order today and I am beyond impressed!  Not only is the jewelry absolutely incredible, I mean its stunning and I kinda want to play dress up and wear it all at once even though its just supposed to be my "display" so I can sell it to other people, but, the packaging is absolute perfection as well--even the inside of the shipping box has a design...amazing!

So cute, right?
On another note…remember how I really wanted to hang my chandelier in our bedroom?  Well, a couple weeks ago, I got a little surprise…

Love it!

Our Happy Kitchen

Last weekend was spent doing fun projects around the house.  At least I thought it was fun, I’m not sure that Seth thought they were as fun, especially since I start out by telling him I can do it myself and don’t need help, then inevitably he becomes foreman on the project.

Anyway, we have this corner in our kitchen where the window and open shelving meets.

(please excuse the mess)

I really felt like we needed a pop of color and a great window treatment.  So, I set out to find some material to make a roman shade and decided to take an accent color from the material to paint the back of the shelves.

Here's the link to the directions for the roman shade.  In full disclosure, it was harder than it looks here.  I don’t have a sewing machine and the Stitch Witch didn’t feel like bonding to this particular fabric.  Not to mention getting the measurements for the tabs exactly right so that the folds fell exactly right.  In the end it turned out great, but it wasn’t without its challenges.

I painted the shelf with a color called kiwi splash.  It’s a really bold green.  Again, in the interest of full disclosure, this took me way longer than I originally anticipated.  But, I really love the finished product.

Stella & Dot

For those of you who don’t know the company Stella & Dot, let me introduce you… For those of you who consider Stella & Dot old friends, well, you know why I’m so excited!

They have the most AMAZING jewelry and accessories—A stylistas dream come true. The business model is individual "social selling," kinda like old school Tupperware parties (no offense... I heart Tupperware), but a girls night in with some wine and fantastic jewelry is way better.  I made the leap and signed up to be a "stylist!"  So, if any of you girls (or guys) need some phenomenal accessories or the perfect gift... I'm your gal.

Here are a few of my favs.

Check it all out here.

Channeling Martha

Well, its officially Fall, even though the weather in SC right now suggests otherwise.  And, in honor of the change of season, I decided a wreath was needed for our front door.  We own a home now and I am pretty sure that is what people with homes do…they hang wreaths on the front door.  I went to Target and found a super cute one, but it was $25!  So, I decided to make one instead.

I bought a plain twig wreath, some “autumn garland,” and some florist wire (to attach the garland to the wreath) at Jo Ann’s, set up shop at the kitchen table, and made my own Fall Wreath for the front door.

Seth thinks it’s a little grandma-ish, but, I told him that a wreath on the front door says “nice, happy people live here.” I don’t think he bought that explanation, but, regardless, I’m a huge fan of the wreath.  Its like an accessory for the house and no one should go without accessories to dress up any outfit (or season in this case).
